CSCS Has Exemplary School Program
ACSI dedicates one of its annual editions to Exemplary School Programs. CSCS’s online instruction with Moodle was selected as one of those programs for the 2006-2007 school year. We hope you will enjoy reading about a creative alternative to too many snow days and a way of encouraging teachers to integrate technology into every class.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO --
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Colorado Springs
Christian School announced today plans to build a soccer and football
complex to be used by both schools.
The combined effort will transform an
existing soccer field into a 1,200-seat stadium used by the UCCS
intercollegiate soccer team as well as by university intramural sports
teams. CSCS football and soccer teams will also use the fields.“The cooperative effort has been an
enjoyable and rewarding experience,” UCCS Athletic Director Stephen Kirkham
said. “This effort will provide a long-term opportunity for students from
both schools to compete in a first-class facility.”The stadium will feature a Grass-Tex
synthetic surface that will improve safety, reduce maintenance costs and
allow high-volume use. Grass-Tex is used at more than 4,000 university
athletic fields nationwide.Lights were recently installed and a bid
awarded for bleachers. Completion of the stadium is expected by June. When
finished, the stadium will feature two scoreboards, donated by Pepsi. An
enclosed press box is also planned.“The exciting relationship between CSCS
and UCCS will provide great outdoor athletic facilities that will benefit
both the program and the student athletes; characterizing the excellence of
both institutions,” said Dr. Roland DeRenzo, CSCS Superintendent/CEO.The soccer field at Four Diamonds Sports
Complex was home to UCCS club-level and intercollegiate teams from 1980
until 2003. Because of the field’s condition, UCCS played home soccer games
at Sand Creek Stadium for the past three seasons.
UCCS, located on Austin Bluffs Parkway
in northeast Colorado Springs, is the fastest growing university in Colorado
and one of the fastest growing universities in the nation. The university
offers 25 bachelor’s degrees, 18 master’s and two doctoral degrees. The
campus enrolls about 7,800 students annually.
