Teamwork

Vail_PicNow that a full year is almost completed, I reflected on all the many good works we have accomplished over the year.  I realized that nothing we have undertaken has been done in isolation but in community. Let me share a few examples. Personally, I couldn't do my job without my right arm, my administrative assistant.  Many of you have also been the benefit of her serving heart as she helps all of us with what we need.  I also have had the encouragement and support of my fellow principals and our Superintendent and Associate Superintendent.  It is a comforting feeling to know you are not alone but have several people walking beside you with inspiration and advice.

Knowledge Bowl Results

Sixth Grade 2On February 13th the CSCS 6th Grade Knowledge Bowl team traveled to Fountain Middle School to compete against 10 other teams from the Pikes Peak region  The team members were Josiah, Matthew, Gabe, Braden, and Ross. The team answered questions pertaining to geography, history, literature, sports, current events, and science.

A Visit with Jerry Jenkins

Jerry JenkinsOur middle school had the recent privilege of having Jerry Jenkins, author of books such as Left Behind and Riven, come and speak in an assembly about his experiences as an author.  Mr. Jenkins shared pieces of his life from reading selections from favorite fan letters to how to get ideas for stories to how to develop characters.

Art Show Success!

Art Show PhotoRecently, our talented middle school artists participated in the annual CSCS art show in the auditorium.  Under the direction of Anne Wilbur, our students were able to share drawings, sculptures, and even group projects with the audience who attended the event.  The auditorium was filled with students and parents enjoying the displays from students in kindergarten to students in high school.  Congratulations to all the art students who shared their artisitic gifts with us as a reflection of the Creator.

 
Reaching for the Stars!

High School MusicalIn March over 50 middle school students pooled their talents together in order to deliver a fantastic performance of Disney's "High School Musical, Jr."  Under the direction of Beth Ledeboer along with her assistants Debbie Baker, Katie Moreton, Cathy Hall, and Ben Kersey, the audience enjoyed three nights of this musical.
