Children were dressed as bighorn sheep, pioneers, miners, railroad workers, military servants, cowboys, Indians, and even tourists. On top of that, several famous folks and one very familiar lady came to campus to make Colorado History Week a special time of learning.
The Unsinkable Molly Brown brought her paddle and told us about her adventures in Colorado and on the Titanic.
Helen Hunt talked about the early days of Colorado Springs and her love for this special place.
Aunt Clara Brown shared how the Lord helped her move from slavery to business-owner to being reunited with her long-lost daughter.
Calamity Jane burst into our classrooms to talk about the excitment of the Wild West.
Katherine Lee Bates showed us how the words to America the Beautiful were first written on a shirt sleeve.
Our own Mrs. Jacobson brought quilts and talked about the stories that quilts tell - including a long walk to Golden, Colorado!
Mrs. Moreton helped us finish it all of with some Colorado songs on a beautiful, sunny day as we sat outside on the playground facing Pikes Peak. We don't yet know all of the reasons God put us here in Colorado, but we know He put us here for a reason. We also know that He wants us to be a blessing to the people around us. We convinced it's a blessing to be in and see His wonderful creation called Colorado every day!
Hard to beat! It was a great week.
