Giving - November Article
This is the month of Thanksgiving. The last part of that word has been extremely evident on campus already this school year – the ―giving‖ part. Please allow me a few moments to share from the first part of that word – the ―thanks‖ part.
I am grateful for our PTO and the way they represent you as parents.
We started the year with one PTO officer in place. We needed four. We did not have a chairperson for the Sally Foster fundraiser. That effort is over now and was the largest Sally Foster sale we have ever experienced.
PTO this year has gone out of their way to support children and teachers. There has been a tradition of supplying funds for classroom teachers to use for classroom supplies and extras. That has happened again this year. There have been additional funds given to our Specialist Teachers this year: Art, Music, P.E., Computer, Library, and Science. We have some excited teachers and we think that excitement will translate to excitement for children as well. Please check the PTO portion of this newsletter to see more specifics about what has been purchased.
PTO helped with our Veteran’s Day effort in a big way this year. We will be sending hundreds of Christmas cards, hundreds of cookies, and boxes of Christmas ornaments to a military unit in Iraq.
PTO is working on helping us spruce up the campus for Christmas. It should be fun to see some new campus decorations this year.
Stay in touch for another new idea PTO is planning as well. It’s a store for children at Christmas time. You’ll get details about that in the next few weeks.
All of these efforts have been supported by the CSCS families and extended families who have helped with our fundraisers this fall. We have far exceeded our fundraising goals and the ability to provide these many benefits are demonstrating how well those have gone.
Thanks so much for your help. Sometimes when you cannot be on campus to help, you may feel that you are NO help. That has not been true this year. We have seen great help in volunteering, fundraising, and just general availability! We are grateful. It’s a great community. It’s fun to see the body of Christ in action. Thank you!
