Girls Soccer: The girls varsity soccer team defeated Frontier Academy on Friday in the regional round of the CHSAA state playoffs. Senior Lauren H. scored 2 goals and assisted on 2 others in the victory. The team will now play Resurrection Christian, from Loveland, on Wednesday, May 7, at 5pm at the Loveland Sports Park. This is a round of 16 game with the winner moving on to play on Saturday, May 10, against the winner of St. Marys High School and Front Range Christian. Driving directions are below.
Girls Tennis: The girls varsity tennis team completed their season with a 3rd place team finish last week during regional play at Cheyenne Mountain High School. The weather continued to play havoc with the season right up until the last point was scored. Originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday the start was moved to Wednesday and finally completed Friday in very chilly conditions. The team had a terrific season and returns all but one senior, Alex D., for next years squad. While Alex will be greatly missed, the future is indeed bright for CSCS girls tennis.
Baseball: The varsity baseball team completed their season in district play this past Saturday but did so in dramatic fashion. They entered the first game as the # 30 seed overall which gave them a match up with the # 3 seed, Bishop M. in the 10am contest. Senior Scott G. wrapped up his CSCS pitching career with a complete game victory as the Lions defeated the Buffaloes 5 – 3. According to Coach Hodges “Scott pitched a gem” in leading the Lions to the historic win. The Lions season ended following the second game after they had forged a 5 – 5 tie through 5 innings but couldn’t hold on versus Brush. The Bishop victory and valiant play versus Brush certainly gives the team something to build on for next year.

Girls Tennis: Although our spring weather has brought its typical havoc to a number of matches so far this season, the Lady Lions have persevered and continued to improve as the season has progressed. On Saturday, April 5, the teams smashed their way to a historic victory in the Liberty High School tournament. Championships were won by all 3 singles players and all 4 doubles teams without losing a single set at any level. Congratulations to the Lady Lions tennis team for this remarkable victory!
Track and Field: The boys and girls track and field teams continued their rigorous schedule this week with a Tuesday contest at Ellicott High School. This was part of the new El Paso County Small Schools track meet series and both teams continue to compete very well. Both teams will be back in their lanes and on the field this Saturday, April 12, competing in a meet hosted by Air Academy High School beginning at 9am. Good luck and God’s speed to all our track and field athletes.
Girls Soccer: The girls soccer team has continued their impressive start to the season (8-0 overall, 4-0 Tri Peaks League) with a victory at Manitou Springs Thursday evening. The Lady Lions defeated the Mustangs, 2 – 1, with both goals scored by Senior Lauren Hammerstrom. This is the first time in a number of years that the team has experienced a victory over Manitou. The team will square off against St. Marys on Saturday, April 12, for the outright lead in the Tri Peaks League race as the Pirates are also 4 – 0 in league play. The game will be played at the St. Marys Grace Center beginning at 3pm.
Baseball: The CSCS baseball team continues to battle their opponents, and the weather, in completing a schedule during the spring in Colorado. The team lost a close decision to the Florence Huskies on Thursday, 4 – 3, with Senior Scott Greensides working the mound and clubbing a 3 run home run to get the Lions close. Earlier in the week the Lions defeated Denver Christian, 10 – 0, with Cam McCormick pitching a complete game. The Lions will be back on the diamond Saturday evening, April 12, for a double-header against Lake County, the first pitch is scheduled for 4pm.
