Believing that all believers are called to minister in some way in the Body of Christ and to the world, the Student Ministries Department will promote, teach and encourage a ministry mentality and ministry methods to as many students at CSCS as possible.  We will, however, provide focused opportunities for students to actively ministry to their fellow students, the Church and the world.  While involved in ministry we will provide training in leadership, ministry methods, strategy and Kingdom thinking that will enable them to minister more effectively in  the ministries to which they are called today and prepare them with invaluable ministry  skills and experiences for the rest of their lives.

Mr. Andy Boucher, Student Ministries CoordinatorChapels

Our Chapel program provides a regular event which impacts the entire student body as well as the faculty, by challenging and equipping them to live their lives for Jesus Christ. Chapels also provide opportunities for students to lead in a team atmosphere in planning and publicizing chapels, and ministering to fellow students as they participate in recruiting speakers, speaking themselves, or participating in leading worship and other chapel activities.

The format of our chapels will vary from week to week in order to provide a variety of group sizes for student interactioWorshipn. On a monthly basis, we are planning All Student Body chapels, Class Chapels, and EXCEL groups. Chapel content will vary from speakers, to worship experiences, small group discussion, inspirationalspeakers, challenges, controversial topics, and times to sit quietly in the presence of God.

Chapels at CSCS is designed to engage the student body and faculty in their spiritual growth. While working together to plan chapel we have the opportunity to fellowship and interact with many other interns such as the tech team and Mr. Boucher (Student Ministries Coordinator). The 2006-7 team was made up of a Barry (2007)and a Paige (2009). Jerry (2009) will take the lead on our 2007-8. Serving on the Chapel Team gives us an opportunity to pick people to minister and encourage our school. We have had many impactful speakers and groups such as: Indian Children’s Choir, John Bevere, Brent Parsley, Sam Bhatt, and David Perkins.        --Barry & Paige

EXCELEXCEL Groups.  EXCEL Groups exist as part of our High School Chapel Program to complement the academic and spiritual environment in the high school by providing a group in which students are safe, receive focused attention and guidance and have a venue in which they can debrief, ask questions, seek guidance, set goals, discuss spiritual matters and generally be heard.  We are in the second year of our EXCEL program.

EXCEL groups are made up of 10-13 students from the same grade and are led by a teacher, staff or administrator who have the most contact with their grade level.  EXCEL groups will be introduced at the beginning of the school year during the retreat.  Students will meet in their groups approximately once a month.

Chapel WorshipChapel Worship in the 2006-7 school year was led by a student band calling themselves Divine intervention.  We provide worship for chapels as well as any other event in which Mr. Boucher asks us to participate in.  Our goal is to use our instruments and God given abilities to provide a musical connection for students to worship God in as well as grow ourselves in the ability to lead worship and to grow in our musical abilities. As of 2007 we are made up of 1 bassist, Ryan (2008); 1 acoustic guitarist, Brandon (2008); 2 electric guitarist,  David (2007) and Conner (2009); 2 drummers, Abe (2007) and Justin (2008) as well as back up singers and piano players, Carmen (2008), Bekah (2010) and Brook (2008). We are on the move both spiritually and with our abilities and size for God, who has blessed us with many talented musicians and the opportunity to lead worship for our school.                                    --David

WorshipFor the 2007-08 school year, we plan to divide our band into two bands.  One will play for chapels and one will play for Random Ministries events.  Brandon (2008) will lead the Chapel Band and Bekah (2010) and Justin (2008) will lead the Random Ministries Band.  Sign ups for both bands will take place in the Commons at registration (August 2).  Auditions will be held between registration and the beginning of school.

Random Ministries provides opportunities for students to lead and serve in a ministry that is entirely student led, and whose mission is to impact the community by bring unity to the Christian youth of the Colorado Springs Metro Area.  Random Ministries is one of the oldest ministries at CSCS and in recent years has refined its focus to bring unity among those seeking revival at CSCS and to work with student leaders from different high schools in the city to bring unity and revival in their schools.  The ministry focus in Random Ministries is on prayer meetings and prayer walking in different schools, prayer meetings with students from other schools, and prayer and praise (prayse) rallies.  Current leaders include Micah (CSCS-2009), Bekah (CSCS-2010), Brandon (Pine Creek-2008), and Jerry (CSCS-2009).  For more information on Random Ministries, go to UnitingChristianYouth.com.
