Inclement Weather & Moodle
Should we experience inclement weather you may call the East Campus main number to receive a weather related announcement. The main number is (719) 268-2900. After the identifying announcement press option 1 to hear the announcement for that day. You may also check our web site at www.cscslions.org for school closing information as well as the local television stations.
In the event that our school cannot be in session due to inclement weather we will declare either an Online Instruction Day or a Snow Day. If an Online Instruction Day is declared, students in third a nd fourth grade will be required to go online to the CSCS Moodle site. They will access 4 to 5 learning activities that have been created by the classroom teacher that support the curriculum studies for their grade. These activities will have due dates, and will affect their grade in class.
Online Instruction Days have now become official school days, which means attendance will be taken through the Moodle site. If a Snow Day is called, students in third or fourth grade will not have online obligations that day. If your child is in Kindergarten, First, or Second grade her or she will simply miss a day of school with no further obligation on your part. More Moodle Information |
Keyboarding for 2nd Through 4th Graders
We have a keyboarding plan which we hope
will be both fun and beneficial for your children.
We want to encourage all second and
third grade students to participate in the new
program. Your child may access the following
two web sites for keyboarding instruction and
practice: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/flash/stage1.shtml and http://www.davis.k12.ut.us/cjh/appliedtech/Business/Keyboarding/Index.html.
The fourth grade students have begun a new
keyboarding adventure on http://www.keyboardingonline.com! The students have been trained to go to this
Java Enabled program and work on their keyboarding skills four times a week
at home. Students have a packet of lessons and will be challenged to learn to
type in 15 second timings for each of the letters of the alphabet. If you have a
fourth grade student you should have seen a letter with instructions and a lesson
packet. If you have questions about this program feel free to contact
Patrice Geis, the computer coordinator, at Patrice Geis or you
may leave her a voice mail on her phone at the central campus. Her phone
number is 268-5495.
