“Many hands make light work.”

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

The CSCSMS PTO is an independent, non-profit organization whose membership automatically includes all parents, legal guardians and staff of Colorado Springs Christian Middle School.

While PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, the CSCMS PTO is an organization consisting of parents, teachers, family and friends working together to support a positive scholastic experience for all CSCMS students and staff. In a broad sense, the CSCMS PTO provides assistance to teachers in the classroom setting, holds a fund-raiser in the fall called Serve-a-thon for supplemental educational materials and experiences, supports school and family social interaction, and provides a non-biased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children.

Educational & Student Assistance

  • Reading Counts Program
  • Annual Gift to the School: Last year CSCMS PTO gifted teachers and staff with new computers.  We have also provided electronic smart boards, anti-bullying curriculum, individual teacher grants and a computer cart containing multiple laptops for classroom use.
  • Principal’s Prerogative: To fund a school campaign or theme
  • Praying Parents

Annual Social Events

  • Grandparents’ Day

Teacher/Staff Support

  • Monthly Teacher/Staff Luncheons
  • Staff Appreciation Christmas Gifts
  • Classroom/Staff Supplies as needed

The funds raised by the PTO are used in a variety of ways, all meant to benefit the social, physical and educational growth of the CSCMS community. Our primary goal is to provide the school with enlightening programs as well as resources and services to support the efforts of our parents, our teachers and staff, and most importantly, our students. The following are just some of the resources available free of charge as a result of the funding we receive.

The PTO is an organization that relies on resources from our families, friends and the community in order to provide educational materials and events that enrich our students’ lives. While we must raise funds to operate appropriately, we want you to know that we will make every effort to keep fundraising at a minimum. The Serve-a-thon is the only Middle School fundraiser we ask you to consider supporting during the year.

The CSCMS PTO is managed according to its purpose statements and is represented by a Board consisting of 1)President, 2)President Elect, 3)Treasurer, 4)Secretary, 5)Fundraising, 6)Hospitality & Events, 7)Inspiration & Ministry, and 8)Grade Coordination & Volunteers.

The school principal and his/her designee* do attend meetings, but are not considered voting members of the Board. The Principal does have veto power in case the direction of the board is not in line with the school’s bylaws and/or principles.

*If the principal’s designee is a parent and/or guardian of a student at the school, he/she will be considered a voting member.

If you are interested in getting involved with the PTO or volunteering in the Middle School in any capacity, please stop in or contact the office at 535-8968 for more information.
