IMG_9738The CSCS Elementary school consists of grades kindergarten through 5th grade. Each classroom teacher holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education while many also have their master’s degree. Teachers also are required to obtain certification through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), our accrediting agency. Most of the families whose children attend our elementary school would say that the strength of our program is our loving and caring teachers. The elementary classrooms are part of the K-12 facility which has beautiful gymnasiums, cafeteria (including hot lunch), art rooms, music rooms, band room, libraries, computer rooms, playground and nearby fields. Many of those facilities are dedicated specifically for K-8.

The core subjects in the elementary school are Bible, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Special classes include art, computer, library, music, band (5th), physical education and Spanish. We also have an Academic Resource Clinic to help students who need extra attention in either reading and/or math.

Extra curricular activities include a Speech Meet, Spelling Bee, participation in the District ACSI Spelling Bee, Science and Art Days sponsored by our PTO, along with Coloradoelementary arts day -(3rd grade) History Week and Spiritual Emphasis Week activities. Our students are also eligible to participate in a variety of sports activities through the local Christian Schools Athletic League.

Our view of Scripture is that the Lord has given children to parents – not schools. Our role becomes one in which we partner with the parent and church in the education of children. It’s a ministry privilege that we believe God has given to us.

Break out Day in ArtThe CSCS Central Middle School consists of grades six through eight. We are housed on the central campus along with the high school. Our facilities include a full auditorium, band room, kitchen, and two full field houses. Each classroom teacher holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, while many hold or are working toward graduate degrees. All classroom teachers are expected to obtain and maintain certification through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), our accrediting agency.

Our middle school has received national recognition through the Blue Ribbon School Award program, which is a mark of excellence bestowed by the U.S. Department of Education. Only 50 private schools receive this award each year. Though we met the academic and other criteria for several years in a row, we were selected as a finalist in 2010. Qualifications require that test scores fall within the top 10% of national test scores on standardized tests (Stanford 10 for CSCS). Other qualifications include instructional time, elective offerings, and qualifications of faculty.

All middle school students take five core subjects and a number of electives each day. In sixth grade, the core subjects include Bible, English (tracked by ability), math (tracked by ability), science, and geography. Electives include Band, Choir, Physical Education, Art, Spanish, and Keyboarding. In the 7th and 8th grades, all students take Bible, English, History, Science, and Math. English and Math classes are tracked by ability. Electives offered to 7th and 8th graders include Spanish, Computer, Advanced Computers, Art, Band, Choir, Physical Education, Leadership, Study Hall, Yearbook, and Videography. IMG_4364Qualified students in grades six through eight may receive academic support from the Academic Learning Center department during a regularly scheduled study hall period.

Technology and technology integration is priority at the middle school. Students are very comfortable with a wide variety of technology applications and are taught basic and advanced skills in how to use these effectively and responsibly. Most teachers make use of technology on a regular basis including the student response systems (interactive white boards) and projectors that are in every core classroom as well as some electives.

The CSCS Central Middle School offers a number of athletic and academic extracurricular activities. Students may participate in Knowledge Bowl, various spelling competitions, Geography Bee, and a number of service opportunities. Boys may participate in football, track, cross country, basketball and soccer. Girls may play volleyball, track, cross country, basketball, and soccer. Teams may compete in either the Tri-Peaks Athletic League or the Christian School Athletic League.

The philosophy of the CSCS Central Middle School entails partnering with parents to foster spiritual, academic, social and physical maturity in our students. Each staff member desires to train young hearts and minds to find and to begin using their gifts and talents. Finally, the staff seeks to train young men and women to take ownership of their faith in Jesus and to mature in their walk with Him.

volleyballColorado Springs Christian High School (CSCHS) is a comprehensive four-year high school with a current student body of approximately 300. The vast majority of our students are enrolled in a college preparatory curriculum, many taking both honors and AP courses. Smaller class sizes, a beautiful facility, and outstanding faculty and staff help to create an atmosphere for advanced learning. Our mission at CSCHS is to provide an excellent education from a Christ-centered, biblical perspective for lifelong service.

The high school is known for its “small school feel” and its “big school opportunities.” Students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of activities and we believe that we graduate students who are well-rounded and know what it means to thrive in any situation. Our sports program is strong with 17 high school sports, 27 teams total, and 16 state championships in the past few years. moriah and grace - band concertFine Arts is also important with strong programs in visual, vocal and instrumental music. Many of our students are recognized at the regional and even state levels for their accomplishments. A quality drama production is offered as an extra-curricular activity and students try out for parts in either a play or musical, depending on the year. Service in ministries, chapel, and student government round out the opportunities afforded to our students throughout the year.

While we are very pleased to offer a college preparatory program, a distinction of our school is to offer all courses from a Christian worldview. Students are taught by teachers dedicated to both education and following Jesus Christ. The goal of CSCHS is to partner with parents in preparing students for college and the world of work and life. We count it a privilege to teach young people academically, socially, and spiritually.

Colorado History Day

Colorado Springs Christian Schools has a satellite campus in the beautiful mountain community of Woodland Park. This campus is located about 40 minutes from the central campus, a spectacular drive on route 24 up the Ute Pass. Our campus is nested in beautiful pine trees, and we boast a breath-taking view of Pikes Peak. Not only is our facility new and beautiful, but we have the largest indoor recreation center in all of Woodland Park including 2 courts, a dance studio, cafeteria, and chapel.

CSCS Woodland Park has all the advantages of a small campus with 61 students in grades K-5, and the same curriculum for which CSCS is famous for as one of Colorado’s top achieving academic institutions. There is a dedicated teacher in each grade, along with special teachers for Art, Music, Computer, Spanish, and Physical Education. We were given the 2007-2008 State Champion of the President’s Challenge for Physical Fitness award by Governor Bill Ritter. We were the best achieving school in Colorado and second in the nation for this award. Upon completion of the 5th grade, many students go on to attend the middle school in Colorado Springs. There is a CSCS shuttle bus which daily transports students to the central campus.

As with all of the CSCS campuses, we are distinctively Christian. As well as Bible classes in each grade and a weekly chapel service at both the elementary and middle school level, all subjects are taught from a Christian worldview, and this is interwoven in every discipline. We work in concert with the family and the church in the spiritual formation of our students.

Many visitors express feeling the school’s peace and sense of community when they walk through our halls. CSCS Woodland Park is a safe and happy environment where exciting learning is taking place, and where students can flourish and achieve their potential. The best way to experience our school is to come for a tour while school is in session. Please call 719-686-0706 to make an appointment. We warmly welcome you.
