A dual credit course is one in which the student earns both high school credit from CSCS and college credit from a partnering college or university. Dual credit courses are currently available in AP® English Literature, College Algebra, AP® Statistics, Honors Trig/Pre-Calculus, AP® Calculus, Honors Chemistry II, Honors Physics, Honors Anatomy/Physiology, Honors US History, Bible and the Middle East, and Life Calling. All dual credit courses at CSCS are honors or AP courses and are graded on a 5.0 scale. Since dual credit courses are in fact college courses, they typically go into greater depth and cover more material than standard high school courses. Depending on the course, dual credit students may be required to complete additional work above and beyond that of their non-dual credit classmates. Therefore, the decision to take one of these courses should not be entered into lightly.
Due to the nature of these courses, students must meet all grade and GPA requirements to be considered for admittance into a dual credit course. A student interested in taking one or more dual credit courses must turn in an Application/Parent Consent form to the counseling office.
