An Alumni Note

A note from a thankful student, Sarah Riddlebarger

Hi! I hope you are doing well and enjoying teaching the new seniors and juniors.

I just wanted to thank you for all you taught me during my last 3year and a half at CSCS. I joined UNC's Christian Challenge and one of the first nights I went they were talking about apologetics and world religions. It was interesting to see just how little most of the people in the group didn't know about other religions. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach us the importance of knowing things like that. It has definitely also helped me defend my faith in the classroom already with other students who come from a hindu backround.

Christian Classics also helped because when my Gramps died this summer, I inherited a lot of his classic Christian books like the ones we read in class. I would have to say that you having us read each chapter and lead discussion with questions or comments really helped me dive deeper into books than just reading them and not soaking them up. Thank you so much! I hope more students realize what a privledge it was to take those classes with you, or Bible in general. It really is worth it.

Class of 89 Reunion - A Blast From the Past

1989... What a year!

We saw new leaders take office like George Herbert Walker Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev. We witnessed the falling of the Berlin Wall and the leader of China, Deng Xiaping step down from power. It was a year we watched Communism fall all over the world and apartheid end in South Africa. The US invaded Panama to capture Manuel Noriega. We said good bye to Lucille Ball and Laurence Olivier. This was the year we met the Rain Man. Finally, what better exemplifies 1989 than the song of the year, "Don't worry, Be Happy."

The passing of 20 years also means it's time to gather the Class of 1989 together to reminisce about that great year and catch up on the lives of our fellow classmates. That day has come. The Class of 1989 will be kicking off their festivities at the CSCS Auditorium on the weekend of July 10 - 12. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
